Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup crispy cooked turkey bacon, crumbled
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked al dente
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan (for topping)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the meat sauce: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Add diced onion and sauté until soft. Stir in minced garlic, then add marinara sauce, turkey bacon, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. Make the béchamel: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk until thickened (about 5 minutes). Stir in Parmesan cheese and garlic powder; season with salt and pepper.
  3. Assemble: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, béchamel sauce, mozzarella, and cheddar cheeses. Repeat layers and finish with cheese on top.
  4. Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake uncovered for another 15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
