  • 300 g Cavatappi Macaroni
  • 5 Onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth
  • 3 cups Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • Fresh Parsley (for garnish)
  • 1/2 Baguette
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tbsp Flour + 3 tbsp water (for béchamel sauce)
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika powder
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté for 30–40 minutes until caramelized.
  2. Deglaze the pan with beef broth and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  3. In another pot, melt butter and whisk in flour, then gradually add heavy cream to create a thick béchamel sauce.
  4. Stir in two-thirds of the caramelized onions, along with salt, pepper, chopped parsley, and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Cook cavatappi until al dente; combine with the sauce.
  6. Transfer to a baking dish, top with remaining onions and breadcrumbs.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes until golden crust forms.
  8. Serve warm, garnished with fresh parsley.
